FAQ

What should I...?

What dances do you teach?

We can teach you anything done with a partner. Everything from the most popular (salsa, swing, merengue, rumba) to the more traditional (waltz, foxtrot, quickstep) to all 4 styles of competitive ballroom dancing (smooth, rhythm, standard, and latin).See our dances section for more information.

Do I need a partner?

No, both singles and couples are welcome. Actually, you'll learn much quicker without a partner, as you'll be partnering with a professional dancer (think Dancing with the Stars).

How long will it take to learn?

It depends on your goals. Do you just want to "get by", or do you want to feel really comfortable? Do you want the ability and confidence to dance with anybody, anywhere, or are you just learning a dance for your wedding? We'll help you set your goals, so you can become the dancer you want to be.

I have two left feet, you have to have talent to do this, not everyone is cut out for dancing, right?

No way! Anyone can do this. Most people don't think they can do it until they try. Let us show you how fun and easy learning to dance can be!

Why should I select you as my instructors?

Well, if we haven't won you over with our amazing personalities, charm, or sense of humor.... Seriously, we make dancing fun, we promise you're going to have a ball with us. You may look forward to your lessons more than actually going out dancing... Our talent and experience will help you to pick up quicker and look and feel better than you ever thought possible.

What is your class schedule?

We believe the best way to learn to dance is through private lessons. These lessons are one-on-one, and scheduled individually with each student. If you really want to learn in a group setting, there are group classes available at the Rhapsody Ballroom; come take the Ballroom Basics course (it will help you anyway) and we'll fill you in on their schedule.

How much are the lessons after the first course?

After you've finished the Ballroom Basics course, you'll most likely be going into our Fun & Social Program. This course is the 'next step' in your dance education. Depending on how many dances you plan to learn, how often you'll be coming in, and what your budget is, the next course can range anywhere from several hundred to several thousand dollars over a 2-10 month period. Don't worry, we can work with any budget and we'll find something perfect for you.

What's the studio like? Are there going to be a lot of people watching me? What do I wear? What about shoes?

The studio is spacious, there's lots of places to sit, and two ballrooms. We're sure you'll feel comfortable here; it's a relaxed learning environment. There may be others in the ballroom, but they'll be in lessons as well, and not really paying attention to you or your dancing. Most people will dress casually for their lessons, wearing something that allows them to move freely. The best kind of shoe is one with a leather sole, as it allows you to slide your foot across the floor (sneakers are not a good choice).

So, how does this work?

Call us or send us an e-mail, and we'll schedule a time for you to come in and take your first lesson. You'll be working one-on-one with your instructor, and they'll guide you through every step of the process. The introductory program is two 30 minute lessons, and its only ten dollars (What a deal!).
